GAME NIGHT was off the hook!
Game Night consisted of 7 incredible women who giggled like school kids and partied like it was 1999. We had some great goodies to eat like brownies, german chocolate cake, chips and for a healthy choice, a veggie tray and asian sesame salad. We had some good laughs playing games & getting to know one another! We played a few different games, but the most memorable of all was the “Ungame.” Let me explain, the Ungame is a Christian Game in which we shared personal and spiritual experiences. Fun was had by all!

I’m excited to share with you that I, Nedia Glover, your Women of Hope Director, is going on a missions trip! This June, I am going with some of the youth from El Sobrante Christian School and Central Student Ministries to the Philippines! Yes, you read it correctly…the Philippines! It’s gonna be nice ‘n hot & humid! Looking forward to it! J
With prayer & confirmation from the Lord, I decided to volunteer as one of the adult leaders on this trip. The Lord had actually been poking me with the idea (of going on a missions trip) for some time now. Then one Sunday during service, our youth Pastor, Josh Herndon, mentions a missions trip coming up. So I jumped at the opportunity! This is my first mission trip and I’m excited about going! I can’t wait to see how the Lord will use us to bring hope to the children in the Philippines. There are 4 adult leaders (Pastor Josh Herndon, Evie Herndon, Mr. Scott Wells & myself) and 14 high school aged students that are going.
We will be traveling to the Philippines at the end of June and our trip will be for 12 days. In the Philippines, we will be distributing God’s Word in the form of the Book of Hope and The GodMan film in public & private schools. We will be doing dramas, skits, and testimonies through classroom presentations and school assemblies. (You can learn more about the Book of Hope and OneHope Teams at http://go.onehope.net.)
I’ve always wanted to visit the Philippines, and now I have a chance to be able to go. Most importantly, I will be able to impact the lives of the children in the Philippines through God’s word! I believe that the Lord specifically picked each one of us to fulfill a purpose for Him on this trip. I expect God to do something awesome & powerful in the Philippines! I’m looking forward to being a part of it!
Please keep our team lifted in prayer as we prepare for this missions trip. Ask the Lord to give us strength & wisdom as we come together in learning & practicing our skits. Also, ask the Lord to help us keep our focus on Him & on accomplishing His will for this missions trip.
“Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.” Ephesians 6:19-20
We are raising funds to cover our trip cost. The costs include travel to & from the Philippines, training, food, board & materials we need to give to the children of the Philippines. We believe that we can obtain the funds we need with God’s providence and any gift amount you’d like to donate. Your gift will allow us to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) and minister to youth who desperately need to hear the hope of Jesus.

Coming Soon! Women’s Retreat!
Ladies, we have been invited by the women from Church on the Hill (in Vallejo), to join them on their annual women’s retreat! Our very own, Ginger Hohm will be speaking at this retreat! She got us the hook up. Lol Thanks Ginger!
The retreat will be held at:
Zephyr Point in South Lake Tahoe! You can see what the area looks like at zephyrpoint.org. The dates are July 23-25, 2010.
It is $160 to attend the retreat. This includes food & lodging for the weekend. Once you see the place, you’d agree that that’s a good price!
We understand that $160 as one lump sum can seem intimating, but we have a system where you can start putting away money now, little by little, to save for the retreat. So along with your offering, each week you can give like $10 (or whatever you want) towards your trip. On the offering envelope, you can note the amount & that it’s for the women’s retreat.
If you don’t attend our church, you can mail a check to us at: Central Assembly, 570 Appian Way, El Sobrante, CA 94803. Make the check out to “Central Assembly,” and write “Women’s Retreat” in the “memo” section of your check.

Women of Hope~Renewal was amazing!
Women of Hope~Renewal was amazing! We had a great turn out! The atmosphere was filled with joy, comfort, laughter, and definitely was filled with the Lord’s presence! The brunch was an awesome smorgasbord of food. We had a good variety of: a fruit mix, cookies, coffee cake, sausage, bacon, breakfast casserole, chicken smothered in gravy with rice….and a few other goodies! We’ll have to remember to take a picture of the food next time. Lol We had a raffle and gave away some great gifts to the ladies!
Worship was lead by Mrs. Tanya Sturm. She is the wife of Pastor Russell Sturm and leads worship at their church, New Hope Community Church, in Rodeo. This young lady was powerful and I know I definitely felt the Lord’s presence during worship!
Our speaker, Mrs. Ginger Hohm, gave an awesome message! She spoke on the “Woman at the Well,” and related it “Defining Moments.”
A “Defining Moment” is when you are confronted with a new truth or a forgotten truth and you have to make a decision to either embrace this truth and deal with the discomfort it brings, or reject it without making any changes and living your life in a very comfortable state. Defining Moments are always uncomfortable at first, like walking out of a dark room and into the bright sunlight. However, if you allow your eyes to adjust, you will gradually become comfortable with your new surroundings.
She asked a couple of women to share their “defining moment” and they were amazing! Ginger’s message was powerful and right on time! I could see that the women were all touched by what she was saying.

Thank you Tanya for leading us into worship! We were all touched by your beautiful voice and your love for the Lord!
And last but not least, thank you Ginger for your message! I had a “defining moment” as I was listening to your message & during your prayer! I know some of the other women did too.
Thank you to all the women that attended, I pray that the Lord blessed you with just what you needed on Saturday! Thank you for sharing this Kick Off event of 2010 with Women of Hope. We enjoy hosting these events and bringing women together in the name of Jesus! Of course we enjoyed the food & fellowship, too!
